While we here at the Ranch agree that psychiatric drugs have there place to treat mental illness, we also believe that they are now way over prescribed. 1 out of 5 adults in the U.S. in now on a psychiatric drug. According Medco Health1 in 5 American adults are currently taking mind-altering psychiatric drugs such as antidepressants, antipsychotics and anti-anxiety drugs. In fact, in 2013, more than one million children in the U.S. between the ages of 0 and 5 were prescribed these drugs. For all ages, more than ten million Americans took ADHD drugs, 41 million took antidepressants, more than six and a half million took antipsychotics and 36 million took anti-anxiety drugs. Those are some frightening numbers.
