Leprosy in the U.S.

leprosy

Leprosy is considered a disease of the past, but the bacterial infection continue to cause cases today in the United States, including in Florida, where nine people have been diagnosed with the disease this year.

What could possibly be causing the 50-100 cases seen in the U.S. every year? Experts believe that it could be the nine-banded armadillo that makes its home across much of the Southeast. It’s one of the few animals that has increased its range in the face of human development (the coyote is another).

Cute, ain’t it?
They’re cute in an ugly-pugly kind of way, but the best advice is to keep your distance. They’re not an animal you should eat unless you have no choice, and don’t keep one as a pet.  They’re chock full of disease-causing microbes, and are a “reservoir” for the bacteria that cause Leprosy, much as fruit bats are the natural reservoir for the ebola virus.

I’ll admit that I may be giving the armadillo a bad rap. The cause of the Florida cases is yet to be determined. Researchers do know, however, that armadillos can transmit the disease to humans. Every year, 2-10 Floridians are diagnosed with leprosy, now called Hansen’s disease after the scientist who discovered the bacteria in 1873.

Leprosy isn’t just a potential problem in Florida, it’s also seen in Texas, armadillo paradise, where 10-25 people were diagnosed annually from 2010-2014. In Louisiana,  8 leprosy cases were reported in 2011 and 6 a year from 2012-2014.

The strange thing is that the people infected probably didn’t acquire the bug this year, or maybe even last year. The incubation period [the time between exposure and the appearance of symptoms] for Hansen’s disease can be up to 10 years (average 2-3 years). This makes it very difficult to identify the source of exposure, although it’s usually something or someone you have had prolonged contact with (like your pet armadillo).

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LEPROSY

early signs of Hansen’s Disease
In the U.S., few doctors have ever seen a case of Hansen’s Disease. I didn’t see a case in 25 years of practice. Therefore, it may be missed as a diagnosis. So what should you know about it?

The bacteria that causes leprosy began infecting humans at least 4,000 years ago, is a chronic condition caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae. It’s the second most common infectious disease caused by mycobacteria after tuberculosis.

Despite victims being cast out from society in the past, leprosy is actually not that contagious. You can catch it only if you come into frequent contact with droplets from coughs and sneezes from someone who has it.

Leprosy primarily affects the skin, where the first signs usually occur. It also affects the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, called the peripheral nerves. It may also involve the eyes, the lining of the nose, the kidneys, and even  male sexual organs. Over time, people may experience loss of sensation to these areas.

This lack of sensation can lead to injuries, and sometimes, people lose their fingers, toes and even nose if the disease has progressed too far. Muscle weakness and paralysis can also occur, leading to claw-like deformities of the hands and difficulty walking.

People can also get leprosy through their circulatory system. When that happens, the bacterium slowly infiltrates the tissues under the skin, and causes sores, pale bumps and skin protuberances on the face. This can lead to unusual features, in which the infected develop an enlarged brow and strong cheekbone features.

Put all these together, and leprosy sufferers looked pretty darn scary to ancient societies. Many banished “lepers”, but with the advent of antibiotics, successful treatments became available. These days, the disease is treatable with 6 months-2 years of multiple therapies. Despite this, an estimated 2 million people around the world have been permanently disfigured by leprosy.

(As an aside, even with all we know in modern times, it’s still not known exactly how Mycobacterium Leprae causes the effects of the disease. Also unknown is why many people are simply immune to it.)

In survival settings, it’ll be hard to do much of anything for these poor folks. No one’s going to have 6 months to 2 years of daily antibiotics to spare for one patient. Yet I’ll bet some of us will be reduced to eating a leprosy-carrying armadillos to live, so the medic may just see it from time to time. Without drugs or even effective natural treatments for the disease, the medic will take steps to ensure that the patient avoids injury and treat sores as they occur.

Victims of the disease, if in an advanced stage, may have to go back to relative isolation to protect the rest of the community, or at least restrict contact in some way. That’s the hard reality when a disaster takes away the miracle of modern medicine.

Think the government doesn't spray citizens with chemicals and pathogens? Evidence released proves they already have

news

(NaturalNews) It is perhaps one of the oldest of all conspiracies: Your government is conducting a wide range of experimental research on various populations without their knowledge, much less permission – research that has come with consequences to health and well-being.

For its part, Natural News has regularly reported on the phenomena known as chemtrails, lingering cloudy streaks left in the wake of some aircraft that are replete with heavy metal toxins like aluminum, barium and strontium.

Others have dismissed this as absurd, despite some regional testing by independent labs – and other government-sponsored initiatives such as the Air Force's 1990's initiative to control the weather via modification by 2025, which could be accomplished by "cloud seeding," which is already a commercial venture.

Well, whatever you believe, a new report reveals that the U.S. government actually has conducted biological and chemical experimentation on some of its citizens.

No accountability

As reported by Sputnik News, the experimentation was led by the U.S. military, shortly after World War II:

Just a few short years after America signed the Nuremberg Code, the US military conducted a secret bioweapons experiment on the city of San Francisco, without the knowledge of the people. The entire city was infected and one person died. But this wasn't the only instance. There were at least 239 documented cases.

The report noted that in San Francisco, circa 1950, the U.S. Army released a type of bioweapon fog that rolled in from San Francisco Bay. As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle in October 2004, the Army conducted a secret test involving serratia, a bacterium that was not, at the time, believed to cause disease. The science of the day was wrong.

As the paper reported further:

The Army used serratia to test whether enemy agents could launch a biological warfare attack on a port city such as San Francisco from a location miles offshore.

For six days in late September 1950, a small military vessel near San Francisco sprayed a huge cloud of serratia particles into the air while the weather favored dispersal.

Then the Army went looking to find out where it landed. Serratia is known for forming bright red colonies when a soil or water sample is streaked on a culture medium -- a property that made it ideal for the bio-warfare experiment.

Follow-up testing by Army researchers showed that the bacterium cloud exposed hundreds of thousands of people along a broad swath of Bay Area communities like Albany, Sausalito, Berkeley, Oakland and of course, San Francisco, according to documents that were eventually declassified.

History of death, disease

In the days and weeks after the spraying, 11 people came down with infections that were exceedingly difficult to treat at the old Stanford University Hospital in San Fran. By November, one of those patients had died; recovering from a prostate operation, Edward Nevin, 75, a retired Pacific Gas and Electric Co. worker, succumbed to serratia marcescens that attacked his heart valves.

Not knowing what was going on, the outbreak was so unusual that some Stanford doctors wrote it up for publication in medical journals.

In 1976, a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle who was investigating the outbreak found no evidence that the Army had notified public health authorities. Dr. Lee Riley, a professor of infectious disease at UC Berkeley, told the paper in 2004 that the test, which seeded the Bay Area with serratia, may have been responsible for heart valve infections, which became more common following the test, as well as serious infections seen among intravenous drug users in the '60s and '70s.

Then, in 2001, serratia was also behind a number of instances of patients developing a painful, hard-to-treat form of meningitis. In that outbreak one person, 47-year-old George Stahl, died a day after receiving an injection of serratia-tainted cortisone, for his back pain.

No one was ever held accountable, to the public's knowledge, for the experiment gone awry.

Everybody preparing for a 'September event' that coincides with Shemitah

news

(NaturalNews) For those old enough to remember Y2K, you may recall that there was widespread concern around the globe that the world's computer systems were not set up to convert properly to the year 2000, an unforeseen glitch many feared would crash systems that managed financial and social infrastructure.

Obviously, the collapse did not occur and, right on time, the world's computer systems joined humanity as we waltzed into the 21st century without losing modernity.

But as September approaches, some are warning of a much more provable threat – one rooted in the Jewish religion and in history – called the Shemitah Year, a 3,000-year-old mystery that is remains part of the Jewish faith.

What is the Shemitah? It is the "Sabbath year," which is also known as the sabbatical or sheviit; the seventh year of a seven-year agricultural cycle mandated by the Torah, Judaism's religious guidance, for the Land of Israel.

As reported by CBN's "The 700 Club," Shemitah "is about the events happening in America and around the world that were predicted to the time and date of occurrence" based on writings and interpretations in the Torah.

Some believe the Shemitah portends a "day of reckoning" for the United States.

As reported by WorldNetDaily in June, a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision allegedly hastened that day:

With the climax of the Shemitah year now just three months away on Sept. 13, America continues to saunter down the path of defiance to the will of God, say Christian leaders, inviting judgment on the land.

The latest affront to biblical sensibilities came this week when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Americans born in Jerusalem must not have "Israel" listed on their passports as their place of birth, saying the city remains part of disputed territory....Such a move could provoke Muslims to violence, President Obama's U.S. State Department argued, so the passport should say "Jerusalem" not "Israel." Congress took the opposite stand, and the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the executive branch.

While that may not seem important to most Americans, InvestmentWatchBlog provided further evidence that the "seventh year" is again upon us:

Rabbi Johnathan Cahn noted that the Shmitah in 2001 caused the stock market collapse at the end of September, and then in 2008 the Shmitah also caused the economy trouble. The next Shmitah happens to be at the end of the 29th day of Elul this September.

The site goes on to list a dozen other examples that seem to support the claim that another Shemitah year is upon us.

Disturbing trends?

Carl Gallups, pastor of Florida-based Hickory Hammock Baptist Church, host of a Christian radio show and author of "Final Warning: Understanding the Trumpet Days of Revelation," agrees that time is growing short, WND reported.

"There can be no doubt that there is an amazing convergence of end-time prophecies occurring right before our eyes," he told the news site. "Think of where we are in history – Israel is back in its land – a 2,500-year-old prophecy fulfillment – Jerusalem is in the hands of Israel, the nations of the world are rallying against Israel, including the U.S., and Israel is now literally surrounded by Islamic enemies who are publicly calling for the complete destruction of the Jewish state."

There are additional signs that something is in store. First, as noted by AllNewsPipeline.com, there are a number of long-term storable food retailers experiencing a run on their products, leaving them short on some and completely out of stock on others, with restock times as long as 3-4 weeks.

In speaking to some retailers, the site reported that the rush on supplies appears to be tied to "some September event."

Others note that the secretive Jade Helm 15 military exercise, begun in July, is scheduled to conclude in mid-September.

If you haven't started your survival kit yet, it may be a good time to start growing your own food with the self-sustaining Mini-Farm Grow Box that can be found at FoodRising.org

If the September event transpires, the only one you'll be able to rely on is yourself.
