For anyone who loves to grow tomatoes: do you know that if you have a big tomato plant already growing, you can propagate new plants from it in as little as 1 week. That’s much faster than starting from seeds!

We don’t need any fancy supplies here. All we need is water.
The key is to find the side shoots on a bigger tomato plant. See photo below.
A lot of gardeners recommend pruning these shoots to make the plant more vigorous, which is even better for us, because now we have the perfect cuttings to root!
Cut the shoots off and immediately place them in a jar filled with water. Set the jar in a warm place such as a sunny window sill.
In about 1-2 weeks, you will see new roots coming out, and they are ready for transplanting into the garden, or in a pot.
Important tip: For the first few days, give the plants extra water and a little protection from the sun using this simple trick. This will help the plant adjust from water to soil without stunning the growth.
Now we got new tomato plants in record time!
